Season : Challenge Data 2018

From 16/11/2017 to 27/12/2018

Challenge : Predict the hourly production of all the French power units (157 units, with different technologies: nuclear, gas...)
By WattStrat

Description

Predict the hourly production of all the French power units (157 units, with different technologies: nuclear, gas...)

We already have a good model for the national production of these different technologies, but having a picture at the power unit level is interesting both on a scientific level, and on a more philosophical one.

A power unit is the underlying physical electric generator housed in power plants. One power plant generally has more than one power unit: for example the Gravelines nuclear power plant in France has 6 power units.

- 157 units, with different technologies: nuclear, gas...
- the data to predict consists of time series of length 13152 for every one of these 157 units
- the test set is in direct continuity with the data you have at your disposal in the train set (the complete time series corresponds to >>> np.concatenate((train, test))

WattStrat develops a comprehensive model of the French energy system. We reconstruct the hourly energy consumption and production for every French “commune” (the smallest administrative unit in France, of which there are around 36,000), for every sector of the economy (housing, tertiary, industry, transport). This allows us to offer faster and cheaper ways for public servants to assess the impact of public policies than what has up to now been done by consulting firms.
